Texas Week | January 21, 2011 (full episode)

Watch the full episode. See more Texas Week.

State Senator Leticia Van de Putte and State Representative Mike Villarreal discuss the upcoming budget battle in the state legislature.  Was the large deficit due to bad economic times or poor planning by state lawmakers over the last few years.  Are Democrats relevant during a time when the GOP has a super majority in the House.  How will you be affected by what happens in the legislature over the next 4 months?

Bexar County Probate Judge Tom Rickhoff and Dr. Camis Milam, the Psychiatrist in Chief at the UTHSC look at the concept of mental health and how it may relate to violence.  How can you separate those who are considered violently insane from those that have mental health problems and, can you separate them?  Are we taking the time to deal with these issues when budgets are being cut?  Can we afford not to pay attention in the interest of public safety?

Rick Casey will give his insight on being back in San Antonio. What has changed? What he is happy to see again? What this program means to him, as a journalist.
