August 19, 2011 | Why Are Our Schools Being Downgraded?



In Bexar County, the number of top-rated "exemplary schools" fell in half, from 119 to 62.  And the bottom-ranking, "Academically unacceptable," jumped from two to 13. If you are among the thousands of San Antonio area school parents whose public schools were downgraded in the ratings recently released by the Texas Education Agency, our guest bears a lot of responsibility.  State Representative Scott Hochberg, the former Vice-chair of the House Committee on Public Education, and Chair of the Education Subcommittee of the House Committee on Appropriations joins Rick Casey.
