November 18, 2011 | EYEWITNESS IDENTIFICATION PROBLEMS

A Texas Legislative committee convened to prevent wrongful convictions noted that out of 39 DNA exonerations seven involved evidence suppression or other prosecutorial misconduct. A new law changes the identification procedures being used by law enforcement after evidence showed that about 75 percent of wrongful convictions have been due to mistaken eyewitness identification.
